"After a wonderful day at Yosemite Park, we arrived at the Super 8 in Mariposa. Having stayed at Super 8 in the past we expected a good, clean, well managed place for the night. We didn't find it at this establishment and our image of Super 8 has gone down many notches, as it is clear that the Super 8 top brass has not been here to inspect the franchise in a long time.
We were greeted by a sloppily attired and unkempt female desk clerk who, with us and two other parties waiting at the front desk, gave priority to a very long winded personal telephone call making us all stand there in disbelief at her inattention to customer service.
As for the property, it didn't take us long to discover that the owner is either asleep at the wheel, or more likely, is milking this property by charging top dollar rates while not attending to maintenance. Without looking around much at all, here's what we found...
* a swimming pool permanently closed by the county health department;
* soda and ice machines out of order
* hall carpets grimy and dirty
* room carpets with visible stains
Mind you, we're not fussy types. Rustic is fine with us, especially in the mountains. But dirty, ill maintained, and unresponsive does not fly!
In summary, this is one of the worst motel properties I've ever stayed at regardless of price. I am very surprised Super 8 allows their sign to attract customers here.

Super 8 Mariposa/Yosemite is located approximately 35 miles from Yosemite National Park (west entrance) and 50 miles from Fresno Airport. This location is also a quarter-mile from the courthouse and half a mile from the visitors' center. The property's amenities include the seasonal swimming pool and complimentary continental breakfast. All rooms feature clock radios and free local calls.
